About this game
Number Slide is the lithappy take on the timeless 4 by 4 sliding tile puzzle that has been quietly absorbing lunch breaks since the late 1800s. Fifteen numbered tiles share a four by four grid with a single empty space; tap a tile that sits next to the empty space and it slides in, freeing the slot it came from. Your goal is to arrive at one through fifteen reading left to right, top to bottom, with the empty slot in the bottom right corner. Every board we generate starts from a solved layout and is shuffled with one hundred legal slides, guaranteeing the puzzle is always solvable. A live timer ticks while you think, and your personal best time is saved between sessions. Switch tabs and the timer pauses, so afk minutes never sneak into your record. There is no failure state, no level select - just the gentle satisfaction of clicking the last tile into place.
Tips & tricks
- Solve the top row first, then the left column, then the bottom right 2x2.
- When placing the rightmost number of a row, you usually need to stage it below the target before bringing it up.
- Resist the urge to randomly slide. Pick a target tile and bring it home before touching anything else.
- Green tiles are home; pink tiles still need to move. Use the colour cue to spot near-done rows.
- If you mess up the bottom right 2x2, you might need to undo several rows. Restart is usually faster than fixing it.
