About this game
Word Search is a calm letter-hunting puzzle in the lithappy candy palette. A ten-by-ten grid is hiding seven English words drawn from a pool of more than forty everyday vocabulary picks - APPLE, MUSIC, CASTLE, GARDEN and the like. Words can run horizontally, vertically, diagonally, and any of those directions reversed, so you really do have to look in eight directions. To circle a word, press on its first letter and drag a straight line to its last; the path snaps to the nearest of the eight allowed angles so you never have to be pixel-perfect. The grid stays in English in every locale because the word pool is the puzzle, but everything around it - tips, descriptions, modals - reflects your chosen site language. A live timer ticks and your best time is saved between sessions, with the timer pausing whenever the page goes to the background so afk minutes never sneak into your record.
Tips & tricks
- Scan for double letters in the word list - they stand out in the random fill and are great anchors.
- Don't forget the diagonals; players miss roughly a third of hidden words because they only scan rows and columns.
- Reversed words are common. If you can almost spell the word backwards, drag the other direction.
- Cross off chips visually as you find words; one less thing to recheck on later passes.
- If you're stuck, scan column by column for the rarest first letter of the remaining words (Q, Z, X).
