About this game
Whack-a-Mole is the classic carnival reflex test, served up in a soft, candy-coloured lithappy makeover. A 3x3 grid of holes sits in front of you; pink critters keep popping up at random and you have a fraction of a second to tap each one before it disappears again. Every hit is worth ten points, every miss costs you nothing - so the only thing standing between you and a great score is your reaction time. The pace ramps up as the sixty-second timer ticks down: critters arrive faster and stay shorter, and after fifteen seconds little red bombs with a glowing fuse start mixing into the rotation. Tap a bomb and you lose twenty points, so the late game is a real test of restraint as well as speed. Hit pause whenever life interrupts, and the round is yours to finish later. Cute, fast, and over before you finish your coffee.
Tips & tricks
- Watch the whole grid at once rather than locking onto a single hole.
- Hover your finger near the centre so any corner is the same distance away.
- After the fifteen-second mark, scan for the red fuse before tapping.
- Missing a critter doesn't hurt your score - it's better to skip a risky tap than to hit a bomb.
- Late in the round the critters barely appear; tap with a quick wrist flick instead of moving your whole arm.
