About this game
Word Chain is a quiet vocabulary builder that asks just one thing: keep the chain alive. The screen gives you a starting word and a thirty-second countdown to type a new word that begins with the previous word's final letter - APPLE leads to EAGLE leads to ESCAPE and so on. The game runs against a built-in pool of more than two hundred friendly English words; anything outside the pool, anything reused, anything that does not start with the right letter, and the chain breaks. Your score is the length of your longest chain, saved between sessions for a small private rivalry with yourself. The game stays in English regardless of your site language because the word pool is the puzzle, while the descriptions, tips and modals read in your language. Calm, brain-warming and short enough that one round never overstays.
Tips & tricks
- Plan two moves ahead - if you reply with a Y-ending word, the next move's Y bank is tiny.
- Common letters like E, R and S open the most doors. Lean toward them when you can.
- Words ending in tricky letters (X, Z, Q) almost always break the chain - avoid those endings unless you have no choice.
- Short words spend less time; if the clock is ticking, type the first valid word that comes to mind.
- Restart freely - the timer never carries over between runs.
